Solar house

bannersolar.png

Fortune favors the bold, some say; the students of the Solar House would be inclined to agree with that. Solar students are defined by their courage, valor, and chivalry. These students are never one to back down from a challenge, for better or for worse. At their best, they are noble souls who will do anything for their fellows- and at their worst, they are selfishly stubborn and headstrong, and brave to the point of recklessness.

Common Room

This basement common room, once most likely a dungeon, is void of any natural light. Due to this, the common room is still considered the most claustrophobic of the houses. To make up for it, the room has fire lit recesses in the walls and a large ball of magic in the center that acts like a sun, heating the dank area to make it livable. The fire pit acts as both a centerpiece for the room as well as another central light and heat source.

The furniture is traditional and spread around the space to make it more warm and homey. It is certainly the most welcoming common room of the houses, despite its intimidating origins. Two branching hallways to the left lead into large areas which are rumored to have once been holding cells, but they have since been converted into separate bedrooms.

House Portrait

The mythical mare depicted in this tapestry was one of the minor deities of the Andravidan culture- Ebony Ash. The goddess of fire, depicted as a living volcano, was said to have come down from the mountains and pranced along the town, playing with the mortal ponies.

Her father, the god of earth, saw this and made the fire within her glow brighter- burning the town to the ground. Rejected by the mortal ponies, she was forced to return to the mountain; what she didn’t know was that the daughter of the town magistrate had fallen in love with her and followed her to her realm. The two lived together and loved one another, until her embers faded away.

The tapestry itself is one of three sequential tapestries that hang adjacent to one another. Ash moves between the three of them, chatting with students and sometimes pulling pranks on other tapestries.

She is known to light your lantern or candle for you if you go sneaking about at night, but only if you harass a painting on the other side of the school- a different artist’s rendition of herself. She becomes flustered if you catch her dancing, always with the same mare.

A Solar student, Puerile Peach, has sewn her a flowercrown.

Uniforms

Incoming students are provided with a dress shirt, a house specific tie, a grey blazer, a black house specific robe, and an optional dark grey skirt. Uniforms are required on campus, with dress code being more relaxed on weekends when classes are not in session. Students can pick up the uniform package in Feverfew Village.

Additionally, students are given an enchanted house quill, journal, scarves, and saddlebag combination for their use during their academic career. Journals and quills are enchanted to be durable, and to never stray too far from their saddlebags, to ensure that students don’t lose their hard work. When released from their saddlebag, quills hover alongside students- ready to take notes as needed.

Solar robes are golden and orange, coated with designs mimicking the rays of the sun. The robe reflects light during the day, and behaves much like a glow in the dark object during the night. The quill feathers come from a Lesser Phoenix, and give off a small amount of warmth along with a faint orange glow. Students are advised not to use these feathers as replacement potion ingredients, as they will not be provided with a new one.
