Biography
Winter was a quite interesting new member of the Soulblade family. He was born during a cold winter night inside a small cottage in the middle of the Whitetail Woods. Once born, he was almost small enough to fill your hoof. At first they didn't think he would be strong enough to make it, appearing to be rather weak. Little did his parents know how determined this little stallion was, or that he would be one of the best things in their life, next to his twin brother and sister and his older sister. Winter stayed strong and somehow managed to make it through. During the first few months of his life he would have no control over his horn like any normal baby unicorn would. It always encase something in ice and that was about it until a few years later.
When he was two he was a fast learner in many basic things, but still struggled with his magic. His father would try his hardest to teach him early on how to levitate objects, without any success. The young unicorn definitely showed potential, but lacked the ability to use it correctly.
While his abilities in magic would still be lacking for at least the next three years, Winter’s care for other creatures didn’t. One day he was playing with his twin brother Zephyr, as he suddenly fell and scraped his knees. However, he didn't cry or whine about it. Instead he got up smiling, telling his brother that it would be okay and that he was gonna go clean it up in the near by river. Once done, he suddenly heard a small sound, almost like a whimper mixed with echoes. It seemed to be coming from a bush at the river. As Winter got closer he discovered that a light shined softly through the leaves and found a small blue wisp.
He instantly recalled his mother and father saying that most of the small fire like spirits are very dangerous. Naturally he started to back up a bit until he noticed that the wisp seemed to be injured. He picked it up without wasting another thought about the possible danger and ran home as fast as possible to take care of the little creature, with the help of his family.
Around the age of 18 Winter had developed a passion for going outside to spend his time surrounded by nature together with his new wisp buddy flying next to him. Most of the time he went out to go and pick flowers for his mother. She loves to make stuff like decorations and necklaces out of them. Whenever he returned with a basket of flowers on his back he would walk in happily, set them down on the table in the living room and excitedly present them to his mother. He just loved to see her happy.
However one day things went a little bit different. Winter returned home like usual only to find everypony gathered in the kitchen. His whole family was there. His older sister, his parents, his three aunts, his two uncles, his older twin brother and sister, his little triplet sister brothers, his three nephews and his friend were all sitting at the table with just a single paper on it. He was rather confused about the situation. His family explained that they planned to go on a longer trip to the badlands for an excavation in ancient ruins. However, Winter wouldn’t be coming with them.
Instead they wanted him to attend a magic school. Starswirl’s School for Gifted Unicorns or SSSfGU for short. It was supposed to be a surprise gift, but Winter wasn’t sure how to feel about this at first. He was shocked that they would apply him for such a school. His father assured him that there was nothing to worry about and that this could be a great chance for him. He certainly had some magical potential and the professors of the school could probably teach him properly how to finally utilize it.
After his first year at the school hes been working on his magic abilities a bit more since he has gotten his ring from professor calmly which helps him control his unruly magic. After a week when school ended he went to his fathers funeral so now if anyone brings up fathers or of his dad he will go and stay away from everyone. He has not done much other then study and wait for that letter of acceptance to come in and when it does he will go off to enjoy another year at SSSFGU.

-He has an ice ferret named lily and another pet he got from last year named Thor- a tiny dragon.
Abilities
Ice Forming- Winter can shape ice into whatever he wants and create small sculptures. With more concentration, he can use his magic to create ice out of the thin air. From practice he's able to do this, but it leaves him exhausted.
Runic Reading- Winter is able to easily read runes, because of his dyslexia. Runes have always been his favorite part of magic. With the right teaching, he can understand and perform runic spells easier than any other type of magic. Rune based spells come to him better now after last year and he picked up reading a older set of runic script.
Bow and Arrow- Winter is a bit trained in archery. He is very persistent in his shooting, but still needs some practice. He is usually was too hasty, but after a good long practice he can hit his targets but sometimes over shots it.
Cold Immunity- Winter can go out into the cold, without noticing the frosty weather. However, he will still start to freeze under abnormally cold temperatures. If Winter starts to get cold, it’s most likely a sign that the current temperatures are unusual.
Nordic Rune Script- Winter has picked up a old version of runic script from his fathers small collection of books on the subject. He is able to Wright it on his made ice but has trouble understanding the meaning of each rune.
