Biography
Abalone is moderately tall, structured, and athletic, muscular to an extant. He is a unicorn with a dark purple coat. He has a vitiligo condition, which sports lavender birthmarks around the left side of his face and his hooves. His eyes are grey, and eyebrows thick like daggers. His mane and tail is very long, slightly wavy, and jet black. Often he will tie it up or even braid it, and embellish it with pearls without any explanation given. He enjoys wearing capitano hats or even bandannas. He is slim jawed, and ears often being turned outward. A couple piercings can be found about his right eyebrow and left ear.
A unicorn that is generic among most adventurer’s didn’t start off that way. Abalone was born and raised in the village located on the isle close to land that is actually one of the 5 dark realms (once cast in eternal night, an early, soon to be called Manehattan) His parents, Benthic Reef, and Sargassum met under the influence of marine life and hoped to do vast amounts of research in their careers. Sadly, early Manehattan was just too preoccupied with economy and industrial needs. That such research was considered mindless to the ponies of the town. Reading about marine life and ocean magic would be a bore. So Abalone’s parents never got to fulfill their dreams, but soon overcame the trouble and found new occupations, and lived happy lives anyway.
Upon bringing Abalone into the family, as an only child, they weren’t surprised to find him growing up to love the ocean. They would let him explore, and document many discoveries in his journals upon visiting Luna Bay and the vast coastline of their town’s outskirts, but were never willing to share the truth that a career in marine magic and biology was near impossible in this growing community, chances could always be taken though. When he met a mature age, Abalone became hardened by the ponies of his village, all the research he had made was considered worthless, and a waste of time for someone who should be doing “real work”. He soon decided that he had to leave these walls and find someplace new to explore, any place to fill the pages of his adventurous desires.
With a warm goodbye to his parents, he embarks on a ship to travel by sea. Ending up traveling to places such as an early GriffinStone monarchy, a quick and regretful step in the dragon lands, and even the Ghastly Caverns. It didn’t have to be a marine related adventure for it to spark his interest. And the more places he went, the looser and more carefree he became, eventually committing some naughty deeds and causing mischief in some places that had something he desperately needed. He’s relatively tame otherwise. Upon coming across a mysterious spell book, locked closed with an enchantment, he hopes to finding the secret to unlocking it. He had tampered in his magic before, with basic knowledge in it, but found it hard to contrive the difficult stuff such as some runes, dark arts, and not having any clue about potions.
He stumbles upon Starswirls School during his travels, he had luckily saved up enough to consider an application, perhaps this school could help him. For both keeping taps on his magic, and to help him uncover the secret of the spell book. He’s determined to discover something new either way.
Additional Information
-Abalone was once very proper, uptight, and traditional, but times of adventure call for greater risks and newer heights. So the result is a chill yet slightly snarky troublemaker by day, and a super aberrant and resourceful adventurer by night.
-His attitude often ranges from being standoffish and sarcastic, to being more open-minded and helping others to loosen up like he has. He’s not afraid to think outside of the box to solve problems, and definitely not afraid to explore. He is willing to cause mischief in certain areas, especially when it comes to having fun and living freely.
- He’s a little grabby too, interested in useful trinkets, so don’t be surprised if something goes missing in a house or in a classroom.
-He has disinterest in what goes on in social conformity and distaste for sappy interaction, and even though he left behind his previously serious mindset, he still keeps his intelligence and survival skills he learned well on his own during his studies at Luna Bay. His insecurities include the will to prove himself to others, and always hoping to make a difference in the status quo, not to mention anger management and cutting wood as a stress reliever.
Abilities
Basic Knowledge- A base level understanding of spells, runes, and defensive magic. spells, runes, and defense magic but still plenty more to learn.
Sea Savvy- An immense knowledge of marine life and biology, and the oceans habits.
Survivalist- Abalone has basic survival skills he acquired on his own throughout his journeys. He has excellent problem solving skills, especially when dangerous risks are taken.
Honed- Abalone can make use of agility and basic combat.
Shady Dealings- He is skilled in manipulation, stealth, and strategic theft.
