Biography
His coat is a very light, creamy colour, and is covered in dark brown moles. These moles are more concentrated on the back of his neck, his back, the rear end of each of his hooves, and he has a bunch peppered around his face and a few on his curved horn. His hair, short and fluffy, is a rich, chocolaty brown colour, and his eyes are more of a dark, ashy brown. He had a few grey and white hairs at his temples. His bangs fall on the middle of his forehead, so his eyes remain unobstructed. He is small of stature, about 4'8", but his build is a little more on the buff side. His cutie mark is a black, symmetrical cross, with a blood-red snake curled around it, its head sticking out over the center of the cross with its tongue out. He wears grey, rectangular glasses and has two round, golden earrings in his right ear. They were gifted to him by his uncle and he wears them as a good luck charm.
As all young unicorns, Magnus was not particularly good at controlling his magic, which became especially problematic when he discovered he could burn things. Considering neither his father, Gabriel, or his mother, Josephine, were skilled magicians, they decided they would send him over to his uncle on his mother's side during the summer in order for him to learn, when he turned 5. Donald, his uncle, was very well versed in magic over all, specifically in the art of healing. He was also able to cast low lever charms, such a increasing the durability of objects, which he put to work in his antique's shop. His house, located at the outskirts of northern Canterlot, was filled with various plants, but Magnus would later find out none of them had anything to do with his uncle's craft.
At the beginning, it was hard for the both of them. Magnus refused to collaborate, and kept on literally playing with fire. But all changed one faithful day when Magnus managed to get himself hurt. His uncle could hear his cries from inside the house, and he rushed outside to the garden. The little boy had burned himself. It took some convincing, but, finally, he allowed his uncle to heal him. And at that moment, when the healing spell was cast, Magnus was entranced. The way his skin simply went back to normal, with no scar left behind. The warm, fuzzy feeling he had in and around the wound. It was truly magical. From that point onward, he was adamant about being taught the ins and outs of healing magic. Every summer he'd go, he'd get better and better. He read all the books and about the subject he could find, he memorized the diagram of the pony body, and the more he gained, the more he wanted. He wanted to be able to help others with his magic just like his uncle had done for him.
Everything in his life was going rather well. Living in an almost middle class household in Manehatten, he had everything he'd ever need. Things took a turn for the worse when he turned 15. After a nasty argument with his parents regarding a certain part of him, they kicked him out, leaving him on the street with no money. Having no one to turn to in Manehatten for shelter, he spent a sizable portion of time on the streets, working any job he could catch to save up money for a train ticker to Canterlot. He almost got killed once, and this incident still haunts him. In the end, he was able to amass the money he needed to go make the trip to Canterlot. He was lucky one way tickets were cheaper. When he arrived at his uncle's house, he was in tears. He told his uncle what had gone down, and Donald agreed to take Magnus in in a heartbeat. He considered the teen his child at this point. Since then, he's lived with his uncle and hasn't seen or contacted his parents. He changed his name from Young, his parents' family name, to the last name of his uncle, Hurse. He got his life back on track after that. Even managed to attend a public school. And, last year, he got accepted into Starswirl's School for Gifted Unicorns. After all his experiences there, with him becoming an official nurse, he decided it'd be best to try and get in again. If he hadn't, he couldn't have lived with the knowledge that he'd left other first years to wander into this school with no knowledge of what the school had in store.

- He has a hairless cat which he knits sweaters for.
Abilities
Healing Magic- He is especially skilled in healing magic, considering that during 1864 he managed to heal a punctured lung. Magnus is a more than capable healer.
Combat Magic- He is capable of using fire magic for various purposes, such as combat. In-between semesters, he has also worked hard on developing his skills in traditional combat magic (he is able to make medium-to-strong shields which absord about 67% of the force of the attack, and also shields that reflect the attack back at the caster, but these ones are way less reliable and hard enough impact will shatter them completely, only lessening the impact by about 30%)
Talents- Magnus can play the recorder, and has decent painting skills.
Practical Medicine- He has gained minimal knowledge of herbs and how to use them and has learned how to properly stitch a wound shut. He already knew how to properly disinfect and bandage a wound.
