Biography
Obelus was raised in Oatsford of the Grittish Isles. Her father was a historian specializing in research into pre-Equestrian history, writing many papers that secured their family a comfortable, although not wealthy, upbringing and a small manor on a stretch of woodland. She has one younger brother who is showing great promise to become an excellent chemist.
Obie was given a standard, rounded education in most subjects, gaining skills in sewing, cooking and household management. Obie often liked to explore the woods around their home, gathering herbs and wild fungi to add to the family pantry. Over time, she began to favour mushrooms for their versatility, appearance and variance in flavour, even developing a spell specifically to locate them, earning her cutie mark.
Personality
Obie is relatively solitary. Though she is friendly to those who approach her, she will rarely be the one to do the approaching. She can be very excitable about her passions, and will occasionally go on rants when she gets particularly fired up. An avid reader, Obie loves to learn but can procrastinate to her own detriment, causing panics close to a deadline.
She prefers logic and facts over theories and rampaging emotions, but is quick to make decisions. She can be stubborn, but is always happy to see others points of views, providing they can articulate it. If she feels she is talking with someone who is dull witted, she will make a hasty exit from the conversation.
Obie has a dry, almost gallows, sense of humour, and will often make jokes that only she finds amusing, including terrible fungi related puns. While Obelus isn’t particularly brave, she won’t stand for cruelty, especially to animals. She will fight, but only when words have failed or authorities are unavailable. When she does fight, Obie fights dirty and can let her temper get in the way of her usual logical self.
Obelus loves the rain and the cold, is not a morning pony, and has an avid sweet tooth, especially for chocolate; though it is a rare treat. Tea is preferred more than coffee, but only fine, quality tea. Obie has discovered in her travels that it is rare she will be served good tea, and so carries a pouch wherever she goes.
Additional Information
-Obelus values logic, caution and learning from experiences of herself and of others. She is not one to rush into things unless forced to, preferring to carefully make decisions based on facts and careful consideration of the consequences or outcomes.
-Obelus is asexual.
-Prefers natural remedies to potions and spells. Obie is a firm believer in the power of good food.
-Loves to cook, especially hotpot.
-Very rarely, if ever, seen without her saddlebags. Her bag always contains the following, amongst other school supplies on rotation:
One note book
2 quills (one school issue, one personal goose feather)
Ink bottle
Pouch of high quality tea and a small tea strainer
Tiny glass pot of solid perfume (made from essential oils and beeswax)
Flask of water
Battered copy of Fantastic Fungi and Where to Find Them
Assorted hard candies (butter or raspberry flavour)
Small 4 x 4 inch first aid kit (Bandage, vial of witch hazel, tea tree oil, saline solution, small vial of healing potion, pouch of dried valerian root)
Abilities
Fungi Finder- This spell allows her to identify where all the patches of ripe fungi are within a 15 foot radius around her. She is currently trying to learn to refine the spell to only identify particular types of fungi but is not having much luck.
Basic healing- Obelus has rudimentary knowledge of how to apply Herbology and first aid. She knows no healing spells, but has a basic practical ability.
Slow Hooves- Obelus is not athletic, and is rather slow at running.
